Privacy Policy for Capzi Browser
This Privacy Policy explains how Capzi Browser ("Capzi", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the Android application published under the package name com.capzi.browser.
1. Information We Process
1.1 Browsing and device-stored data
Capzi stores browsing-related data locally on your device to provide normal browser functionality. This may include visited URLs, page titles, bookmarks, cookies, site storage, download history, and browser settings.
1.2 Live subtitle audio and subtitle text
When you enable the live subtitle feature, Capzi processes audio associated with media playback in order to generate subtitles. Depending on the subtitle route, this processing may happen:
- on your device using an on-device speech recognition model, or
- through a remote speech recognition service for supported routes such as non-English or non-Chinese content.
Generated subtitle text may also be sent to a translation provider when translation is enabled.
1.3 Account and membership data
If you use login or membership features, Capzi and its backend services may process your email address, account identifier, device token, login verification code, subscription status, trial balance, purchase verification results, and entitlement status.
1.4 Push notification data
If push notifications are enabled, Capzi may process a push token, app version, campaign identifiers, and the target URL associated with a notification tap.
1.5 Analytics and app integrity signals
If Firebase services are configured for the app build, Capzi may process analytics events, app instance identifiers, and app integrity or anti-abuse signals in order to measure app performance, feature usage, and service health.
2. How We Use Information
- To load web pages and provide browser features such as history, bookmarks, downloads, and tab management.
- To generate live subtitles and translated subtitles when you explicitly turn that feature on.
- To authenticate accounts, manage trial or subscription access, and restore purchases.
- To send and open push notifications when configured.
- To detect abuse, troubleshoot failures, improve performance, and measure feature usage.
3. When Data Leaves Your Device
Data may be transmitted off your device only when required by the feature you use. Examples include:
- remote subtitle audio processing for supported subtitle routes,
- subtitle text sent to a translation provider,
- login, membership, entitlement, purchase verification, or push-token registration requests,
- Firebase Analytics, Messaging, or App Check requests when those services are configured.
If you deploy or configure your own backend endpoints for subtitle or membership services, those endpoints are responsible for their own data handling practices.
4. Permissions We Request
- RECORD_AUDIO: Used for live subtitle capture and speech processing when you enable subtitles.
- INTERNET: Used for web browsing and optional remote services such as subtitle, translation, login, purchase, or push features.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check connectivity and handle network-dependent behavior.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to show push notifications on supported Android versions.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android versions: Used for download or file compatibility flows where supported by the OS.
5. Third-Party Services
Depending on configuration and the features you use, Capzi may interact with services such as:
- Firebase Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Firebase App Check
- Google Play Billing
- DashScope / Qwen translation services
- Remote ASR providers or developer-configured subtitle backends
- Membership or account backend infrastructure operated for Capzi
These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Data Retention
- Browsing data stored by the browser remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app.
- Account, entitlement, and purchase-related records may be retained by the associated backend for service operation, fraud prevention, accounting, and support.
- Push tokens may be retained until refreshed, replaced, or removed.
- Subtitle audio and subtitle text may be processed transiently on-device or by remote providers as needed to deliver the subtitle feature.
7. Data Security
Capzi uses technical measures intended to reduce risk, including HTTPS for supported network requests, app backup restrictions, and Android platform security protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Your Choices
- You can choose whether to enable live subtitles.
- You can clear browsing data from within the app.
- You can disable notifications at the Android system level.
- You can choose not to use login or membership features.
9. Children's Privacy
Capzi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly design the service to collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when changes are made.
